WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US?

"KIND, PROFESSIONAL, AND INFORMATIVE"

From the first call I made to Bellyfire with tons of questions all the way to the completion of my event, David and his entire staff were so kind, professional, and informative. I hosted 21 for wheel throwing pottery classes & Ella was our instructor. This was by far one of the best experiences my group has had & we will definitely be back! The entire studio is beautiful, organized, and it’s no wonder that every section had a full house. Painting was hopping but still beautifully managed and everyone chatted and was enjoying themselves. They also had private lessons going on in the back that did not interfere with our group at all. I can’t recommend Bellyfire highly enough. Fun date night, fun family activities, great group atmosphere, or specialized lessons… they have mastered it all! - Jill Hudson

"PATIENT, KIND, ADAPTABLE"

THANK YOU SO MUCH! My daughter’s birthday party was AMAZING! It was very educational! You and your staff worked so well with the kiddos. Y’all were patient, kind, adaptable with every question . It was better than I even dreamed! The kids had a blast & said it was so cool! The moms said it was the best party they have been to in a long time! I appreciate all you did to make it an experience to remember! - Lisa Redmon

"AN AWESOME PLACE"

Awesome place, this was the first time I walked in and the owner was great, super friendly and very polite. there is pre-made pottery that you can paint and also the materials and equipment needed to make your own pottery. also found out he is doing a summer camp for kids. Definitely worth checking out and coming back to. - Bobby Roden

OUR PHILOSOPHY

CREATION > CONSUMPTION

Today, there is no shortage of "recreation". From social media to streaming, our brains are fed a tepid slow-drip dopamine diet. We have settled for cheapened recreation. As humans, we long for something richer; something real. Pottery is REAL and tangible. It helps you to process emotions, embrace ambiguity, and self-discover. It is truly rewarding and immeasurably fulfilling!

COMMUNITY

Like anything good, it all comes down to the people. The people at BellyFire make us special. Whether you are a fledgling potter dipping your toes or a ceramics wizard, you will be met with patience, kindness, and all the tools and support needed to succeed AND have fun.

David Rollins

Owner / Wheel Instructor

Hi! My name is David and I am an instructor and the owner of BellyFire! I've been throwing on the wheel for over 10 years and have taught for over four. I am a technical and precise wheel thrower, but also enjoy working in abstraction. I like to play with texture, scale, and functionality. My favorite pieces to make are large vessels and smokeware.

Ella King

Back of House Manager / Wheel Instructor

Hey! My name is Ella and I am our head instructor/ BOH manager. I have been working at Bellyfire since its opening, and have loved watching it grow! My art style is influenced by nature, and my favorite medium is using watercolor on ceramic! My favorite class is our technique series because I love helping people become comfortable on the wheel. Fun fact: I’ve taught over 1000 people to throw!

Sophia Greeson

Wheel Instructor

Hey there, I’m Sophia! In my art, I blend tradition with experimentation, embracing playful exploration. My classes focus on delivering solid technical information while emphasizing experimentation. Join me to let loose and explore the world of clay!

Cole Clark

Wheel Instructor

Hey, I'm Cole! I am a BFA Studio Arts major at LSU concentrating in ceramics. My work recently involves lots of coil building and surrealist sculpting as well a continued interest in tea wares thrown on the wheel.  When taking a class with me, you can expect an encouraging instructor who will talk you through each step individually as you come across personal road blocks. I love to dive into the reasons why something may have gone wrong so you can better understand the process for the future!

Woods Bass

Wheel Instructor

Howdy! My name is Woods I’m a junior at LSU, and been doing ceramics for almost two years. I love ceramics because it’s a great creative outlet as well as being very therapeutic. I like to create things that look organic, handmade, and out of this world. As an instructor I like to make sure everyone is having fun and gets to utilize and enjoy what they make! No matter what you’ll leave with something!

Finnian Kelley

Wheel Instructor

Hi, my name is Finnian. After graduating in sculpture, I realized that the act of art making was no longer enjoyable. So I left to receive mindfulness training at several meditation centers.   Through this practice, and from working with kids, I have rediscovered for myself the clear joy of making, and I hope to share this with you.  While teaching, I draw from my experience in both ceramics and mindfulness. I offer wheel throwing and hand-building instruction as a means to connect with the body. It is my joy to introduce you to the simple pleasures of working with clay.
